- Plans, directs and supervises activities of assigned staff and volunteers.
- Plans and coordinates kindergarten readiness and family literacy programs.
- Identifies, establishes and maintains relationships with library donors.
- Assists in grant writing and management to include research of new grant opportunities, grant writing and submittal, and management/oversight.
- Monitors, updates and develops digital content for web pages and electronic newsletters.
- Monitors and participates in youth programs and events.
- Coordinates promotions with community partners; works with Library departments to implement, promote and communicate efforts to staff and the public.
- Establishes relationships with businesses and government agencies working with youth to identify and partner in programs of mutual interest.
- Coordinates efforts in updating and monitoring youth social media outlets; responds to particular topics/questions.
- Develops and maintains relationships with public schools and community groups; promotes programs and events in the local school system.
- Develops instructions for staff on proper use of audio-visual equipment; instructors users as required.
- Identifies needs and develops programming plans to serve non-traditional or underserved populations.
- Plan and coordinate the implementation of special library projects to engage youth with reading and Library programs/services.
- Prepares, submits, and/or summarizes various routine and non-routine reports.
- Ensures maintenance of accurate records and files and prepares correspondence and user surveys.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
- Drives a motor vehicle to attend meetings and visit various work sites.

Bachelor’s degree in communications, non-profit management, marketing, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of experience in youth programming, fundraising and marketing programs; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.

- Principles and practices of program marketing and communication.
- Principles and practices of development and fundraising.
- Principles and practices of social media marketing.
- Administrative principles and practices including goal setting, program development, implementation and evaluation, budget development and administration.
- Early literacy, family literacy and childhood education.
- Automated systems used in libraries including on-line resources and tools as well as the Internet and computerized catalogs.
- Children’s and young adult literature.
- Current literature, trends, and developments in the field of library science and administration appropriate to children’s services.
- Standard office practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of standard office equipment.
- Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Under Direction - Assignments and objectives are presented to incumbents at this level and established work processes are to be followed. Incumbents have some flexibility in the selection of work methods, the timing of work processes, and the methods of completing tasks. Supervision is periodic and is usually initiated by employee and/or when important problems, significant changes from past procedures, and policy implications are involved.
