Description

Scope:
 
Perform duties to clean any assigned segments of the library's public and office areas, set up meeting room furniture, equipment and supplies and assist with the moving of furniture, shelving and other items, working within the limits of prescribed routines. Uphold the Library System’s mission and values in the pursuit of all duties; respect for the individual, our organization, and the community, excellence in everything we do, and integrity in our actions, while providing excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
 
Essential Functions:
  1. Work from written and verbal instructions. Clean assigned library areas including rest rooms, public areas, offices, kitchens and break rooms. Dust furniture, collect trash, vacuum floors, clean windows, window sills and doors. Clean toilets, basins, mirrors and fountains. Replenish soap and paper supplies. Clean fountains, walls and baseboards. Vacuum, sweep and mop floors.
     
  2. Clean vents and blinds, vacuum pipes and clean out drains. Clean stairwells, garage and outside areas. Pick up refuse and wash down building and sidewalks. 
     
  3. Clean kitchens, break rooms and service areas, clean refrigerators, microwaves, toaster ovens and other appliances. Clean and set up meeting rooms, Library Central and Children’s meeting rooms as required for events.  Move furnishings and set up equipment. Clean meeting rooms following use, remove equipment, refuse and service items and reposition furniture. Lock rooms as required after cleaning.
     
  4. Assist with the moving of shelves, furniture and other items as required.
     
Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
  1. Perform or assist with any system operations, under direction, to maintain work flow.
     
  2. Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies. 
     
  3. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition. Ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
Tools and Equipment Used:
 
Use computer and common custodial supplies including vacuum cleaner, industrial vacuum, carts, buffer, extractor, hose, garage sweeper, leaf blower, hand tools, brushes, mops, washer-dryer and floor scrubber.
