Who You Are

You are a mission-driven communicator with a passion for libraries, nonprofits, and community engagement. Organized, curious, and eager to learn, you’re looking to gain real-world experience in fundraising, public outreach, and relationship building. You bring a positive, professional attitude, a knack for storytelling, and a desire to help organizations grow through strong connections and meaningful partnerships.

What You’ve Done
You’re currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. You’ve had experience—through school, volunteer work, or previous internships—managing multiple tasks, creating digital content, and working collaboratively in team environments. You’re familiar with Microsoft 365, social media platforms, and have a growing interest in CRM systems, events, and data-driven storytelling.

What You’ll Do

As a Development Intern at OCLS, you’ll support the planning and promotion of donor events, manage social media for the Friends of the Library, and contribute to donor communications and database management. You’ll attend cross-functional meetings, assist with Local Wanderer program outreach, and gain hands-on experience using tools like DonorPerfect and Constant Contact. You’ll leave the internship with a portfolio of real-world projects and a deeper understanding of nonprofit operations in a public service setting.
